Scouting in Guernsey
Locally, the
sections link together to form a Scout Group. In addition to these four
sections are the adult leaders whose ages range from 18 to 65. Leaders
need not have previous Scouting experience, and training is provided both
in the UK and locally. Leaders are also assisted by teams of helpers,
instructors and administrators who take care of the administrative aspects
of Scouting.

We have been
very successful at improving the quality of programmes and support and are
delighted that the success of this is shown in the increasing numbers of
young people benefiting for Scouting in the Bailiwick, particular those
aged 11 and over. Scouting in Guernsey is a success story and
as popular as ever.
THE TRAINING PROGRAMME
The Movement's training programme is progressive and very much geared to
suit a wide range of ages, experience and abilities. It is this
progressive training objective that differentiates Scouting from many
other youth organisations.
Activities are about involvement and aim to encourage responsibility,
self-reliance, the acquisition of special skills and an appreciation of
the world in which we live. The list of activities is endless but may
include: camping, climbing, cycle expeditions, parascending, canoeing,
abseiling, sailing, karting, photography, music, crafts, cooking,
computing, team games and much much more.
